The first person I definitively came out as gay to was my roommate, Dan Kosh, while we were sitting (sweating) on the couch during the heatwave of the June 2006 gay pride parade. I felt empowered watching & hearing the voices through the windows the courageous people marching & was inspired by the kaleidoscope of performers that surrounded our sunny apartment in the West Village below Christopher Street. I had recently become honest with myself and for the first time authentically shared that side of myself- my sexual identity- openly & out loud with words. I was scared that I would lose some friends and maybe I have along the way, but Dan was supportive as a true friend and a champion ally from that day forward. Love you, @danielevan84!
